The 86th Annual Meeting of the Rural Sociological Society will be held in Madison, Wisconsin, USA at the Madison Concourse Hotel July 24-28, 2024. The meeting will explore the theme of Reconceptualizing Rurality: Toward a More Diverse and Inclusive Understanding.

Meeting information

Session Information: Please search for your name in the program to ensure you are aware of the time and location of your session. 
 
RIG and Committee Meetings: Please note the times and location of any relevant RIG and committee meeting in the program.
 
Paper Presentations: Each paper presentation is allotted 12 minutes for full sessions with five papers but could be longer for smaller sessions. Please make sure your presentation fits within this timeframe to ensure a smooth and timely session.
 
Poster Specifications: Posters should be 36 inches by 48 inches. Please adhere to these dimensions to ensure your poster fits within the designated display areas.
 
Airport Shuttle: A complimentary airport shuttle is available for service between Dane County Regional Airport and the hotel. The shuttle serves all overnight guests and runs between 4:30AM and 11PM.
 
  • From the airport: Simply call the hotel when you are ready for pick-up. The shuttle pick-up area is across the street from baggage claim Door 5. If you arrive after 11PM, taxis are available outside Door 7. Rideshare vehicles such as Uber and Lyft also pick up at the median across the street from Door 5.
 
  • From the hotel: Please make a reservation at the front desk. The shuttle runs to the airport daily on the hour and half-hour during shuttle hours.
 
Parking at the Hotel: The Madison Concourse Hotel offers overnight self-parking to all guests in our underground parking ramp. The entrance is located just before the main lobby doors on Dayton Street. Overnight parking for hotel guests is $18.
 
Department Night Shuttle: Rides will be available to those who need them from the hotel to the Pyle Center.
