Purpose:

• The Applied and Extension Research Interest Group focuses on identifying opportunities for rural sociologists in non-academic or non-traditional academic professional positions. This is accomplished through activities at the annual meetings that:
• Highlight professional opportunities
• Illustrate the ways in which rural sociological knowledge and skills contribute to an understanding and enhancement of organizational and community processes.
